The Gazelle S is one of the most flexible single-to-double strollers sold in the US. Cybex counts more than 20 seat, cot and car seat set-ups, a 50 lb limit per seat and a 30 lb basket with a detachable shopper on top. It folds with both seats attached, which many rivals cannot do. It is 28.4 lb and 25.4 in wide, so it is big. Cybex says a new generation is coming, which explains the current $764.96 sale price.

Who is the Cybex Gazelle S for?

The Cybex Gazelle S is for families who expect two children in a stroller at once, or who want that option. It starts as a single stroller with one reversible seat, a big basket and a detachable shopper basket. Add a second Gazelle S Seat Unit, a Gazelle S Cot or an infant car seat in place of the shopper and it carries two. Cybex says it suits twins too, with two cots, two seats or two car seats, and a Kid Board lets a third child stand. Cybex lists it at $899.95, and both Cybex and Babylist show it at $764.96 right now. Cybex's US page also says a new Gazelle generation is coming soon, so that discount reflects a model change. If you are sure you will only have one child in a stroller, a lighter single will be easier to live with.

How does the Gazelle S ride and steer?

Cybex fits the Gazelle S with 11 in front wheels and 8 in rear wheels, plus front-wheel suspension and what it calls frame-based rear suspension. Babylist lists foam never-flat tires, so there are no punctures to fix. The handlebar adjusts with one hand. Owners on Babylist, where it averages 4.3 out of 5 from 106 reviews, often praise a smooth ride, and one calls it 'the best stacked stroller as a double.' At 25.4 in wide it is broad for a single, so narrow shop aisles and older doorways can be tight. Loaded with two children and a full basket it is a lot of stroller to steer, and Babylist's review summary notes it is fairly heavy. It is built for sidewalks, parks and malls, not for running.

How big is the Gazelle S when folded?

Cybex lists the Gazelle S at 28.4 lb, which is on the heavy side. Its most compact fold is 32.9 x 25.4 x 12.2 in: long and wide but flat, which suits a trunk floor. The big advantage is that Cybex says it folds safely with one or two seats attached, facing either direction, so you do not have to strip the seats every time. Babylist's listing calls it a one-hand fold. Owners in Babylist's review summary say the fold takes practice at first. It is not a carry-on stroller, and with two seats on it will fill much of a small trunk.

Is the Gazelle S comfortable and safe?

The Gazelle S seat is reversible, so a child can face you or the world, and the backrest reclines. Cybex does not give a number of positions, and Babylist lists a near-flat recline. Cybex recommends the seat from 3 months, used fully reclined at first, and from birth only with the Gazelle S Cot or an infant car seat. Each seat is rated to 50 lb, in single or double mode. The XXL canopy uses UPF50+ fabric with a mesh window for airflow on hot days. A one-pull harness tightens both straps at once, which helps when you are buckling two children. Cybex's US page names no safety certification.

How much storage does the Gazelle S have?

Storage is the Gazelle S's strongest suit. Cybex rates the under-seat basket to 30 lb, and the detachable shopper basket adds more. Cybex's feature text says the two together hold 55 lb, while its FAQ gives the shopper 25 lb. Either way, it is far more than most strollers carry. Owners on Babylist also mention the ample storage. The shopper sits where the second seat goes, so in double mode you lose it but keep the main basket.

How does the Gazelle S go from one seat to two?

The Cybex Gazelle S has two mounting points on one frame. In single mode the top holds a seat, cot or car seat, and the lower spot holds the detachable shopper basket. To carry a second child you swap the shopper for a second Gazelle S Seat Unit, a Gazelle S Cot or an infant car seat, all sold separately. Cybex counts more than 20 configurations across sibling and twin set-ups, and with the Kid Board a third child can ride standing. Each seat is rated to 50 lb. Two features stand out. The frame folds with both seats attached, in either direction, and Cybex lists car seats from Maxi-Cosi, Nuna, Chicco, Peg Perego and Britax as well as its own. The 30 lb basket stays usable in every mode.
